    Well worth a try

I am used to the Rebus series and this is very different. I enjoyed it as I do like Spy novels. It was easy to read and enough suspense to make me turn pages quickly. I did get a little confused at the start with the characters' names but was fine after a while.

    West wind

This book up is right up there with Stella Rimmington, John Le Carre and Ian Fleming. From the first page you are taken on a believable adventure in to the world of espionage and spies. I loved it.

    I'd read it again . . .

I haven't read a lot of Rankin, but have enjoyed everything I have read including Westwind. Part of the reading process can include the journey of an Authors growth, experimentation and experience. Although dated and different, readable and intriguing.

A Well Told, Old Fashioned Spy Yarn

Even Ian Rankin would admit that this, one of his early efforts, is a wee bit dated, but don't let that put you off. It's a fun, ride along jaunt, with good characters and a fascinating plot. Let yourself wander back into an era when things were, well, different, and enjoy the ride.

    Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this. The characters were very interesting, and the plot was engaging. I have never read his books before, but will certainly be looking out for more.
