    4.5 Stars

4.5 Stars What the Hail, is the fourth title in the Hail Raisers series, and it's by far my favorite of this series. Lani Lynn Vale has this amazing ability to create quirky, endearing, relate-able, imperfect characters and engaging and unique plot lines. Lark and Baylor are an incredibly like-able pair, with a chemistry and attraction that is instantaneous and intense, it just draws you into their story. Lark has a past she's desperately trying to put behind her, and has difficulty knowing who to trust. She's complex, endearing, sweet and funny. She's a survivor and portrays a great blend of strength and vulnerability. Baylor is protective, patient, persistent alpha who's not afraid to go after what he wants. The banter this pair share is fun, flirty, witty and laced with humor filled one liners. Their love scenes are passionate and full of steam, and dirty talk. Overall What the Hail is a great blend of heat, heart, humor, intrigue and suspense that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a romantic suspense, or is a fan of Lani's previous titles.

Another great Lani Lynn Vale book!

These Hail brothers do not disappoint!! I knew Baylor’s story was going to be complex and it was. And Lark definitely got her story told. And wow do they have a story between the two of them! Lark knew that when Baylor repo’d her car, she saw some feeling in his eyes. Baylor proved to be different from her past and someone she can count on, even if she did meet him under less than ideal circumstances. I think I might be partial to Baylor’s story the most just because he’s so layered and complex. Plus he didn’t like people much so that made me like him even more. I hope to read Dante’s story next! I know his will be a huge doozy.

    Fun book

Really fun book. Loved the little headers at each chapter. Would have liked a bit more depth for the characters, more details but they were very likeable.

    Baylor

Once again Lani has woven a tale that sweeps in and knock you off your feet. Lark is a woman who has been through something that a lot of women go through but she decides to do what's needed to get out of the situation and back on her feet. She thought she had it figured out until the car she was given gets towed by the delectable Baylor. One thing Baylor Hail can't stand is a crying woman and to be the reason that she's crying, one pat on the back leads him to thinking about the broken woman whose car he towed and how he can make it better. These two are a match made in heaven and when someone tries to step in the way of their HEA there will be HAIL to pay. The Hail family is one that you would want to be a part of they have each other back regardless of the reason why. This is a world that I enjoy and can't wait for the next!!!

    Overall Likable Novel

I liked this book more than I was expecting to. Though the events of this novel seem like coincidence after miraculously dangerous events on repeat. Overall, it was a straightforward story with nods to past and future storylines in this series. Baylor was protective and sweet but had a mean side when dealing with infuriating situations that required a heavier hand. Though the cover threw me off and I still haven't gotten over it. The way he's described doesn't reflect in the eyes of the cover model, in my opinion. It was one of the reasons why it took me so long to read this novel. Lark's situation broke my heart. She was set up from the beginning to fail and not have a chance at an actual life without her knowledge. It hurts to know that her situation isn't uncommon around the world and that not everybody finds help in time. I liked Lark's personality. She's introverted and isn't the most easygoing person you'll meet, but she'll help friends in any way she can even though she may not be open about how she feels most of the time. This was a good novel! It started off slow and built up into something worthwhile. I was expecting a different kind of conclusion (based on a few other novels I've read by this author), but I was pleasantly surprised with this ending. Favorite Quotes: "I learned to protect myself the only way I knew how. By walking away." "I love sarcasm. It's like punching people in the face with your words." "You can't blame yourself for other peoples sins [...]. I've tried. It doesn't turn out well."
