    The Scotsman Who Saved Me

I grab every book I see from Hannah. This one is the gut wrecking story! Don't think I didn't like it, I think it is her best yet. You may have to walk away a lot with handfulls of tissues. This is set in Scotland and Arkansas. Iain and his brothers find a burnt cabin and two dead bodies, Annabel and David, her husband. Next they follow a blood trail and find Emily and Neddy, her nephew, and take them home. Now Iain finds out they are being chased by Emily's cousin, to kill them. They are going to have lots of problems before this book is over. I hope you will read Hannah's book. It takes a bit longer to read but it is worth it. So put on your walking shoes and take boxes of tissues and read this first book! Don't let it get away! You won't regret it! I volunteered to read and review this book.

    Historical Romance

Well written introduction to a new series in which Scottish men who have immigrated to America will each have the story of how they find their brides told. In this book each brother is met and a bit is told about him but this is the story of the eldest, Iain McEnroy, and the woman he finds to settle down with. When Iain and some of his brothers come across the owners of a homestead they pass by have been slaughtered they bury them then realize someone may have escaped, been wounded and need help. They search till they find Emily Stanton and her young nephew Neddy and then take them home to tend to Emily’s wounds. Once Emily is better some of her secrets come out, some of Iain’s prejudices are exposed, a romance with wooing ensues and many evil men are dealt with until the person with evil intentions toward Emily and Neddy is firmly and finally dealt with. In spite of the class differences between Iain and Emily they do manage to find common ground and a HEA. I found this book to be an okay read with a plot similar to many I have read but the characters were enjoyable and entertaining and I did care enough at the end of the book to want to read the next book in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars

    Great book

Hannah Howell is just a great story teller! Thanks for an adventure to look forward to with the next six books. I have already read about the first two brothers and can not wait.

    Fair

I am a fan of all the Murray and Wherlocke books by Hannah Howell. However, since the publication of Highland Chieftain and this new series based in early America, I have been disappointed. The writing lacks her usual spark. It's almost seems like someone else wrote them and used her name.

    The Scotsman who Saved Me

I am a big Hannah Howell fan and am always waiting for the next book. This new book was very disappointing. The story line was weak and disjointed, the dialogue flat. There was too much repetition of the characters' thoughts that detracted from the flow of the story. Missing was the humour that is usually found in her stories. Howell does seem to have trouble with her American stories - the Scottish and English tales are always more entertaining to read.
