A trip through a life time

I have been a fan of Sheila Hancock since I was a child from her cries of "all out" from The Rag Trade to her firey role as the daughter in law of a viscous tongued Bette Davis in The Anniversary, I ran into her once on a motor way between Manchester and Leeds and have read ever lying she has written. When I found out about is book I had to read it, I had no idea of of content, but had a feeling if her other books where anything to go by, it would be well researched and written. Miss Hancock did not disappoint. I could not put this book down, I laughed, I cried and read whole chapters to my family. Such a fantastic story, full of believable charismatic character's with so many twists and turns along the way that you never quite know where she will lead you next. I was very sorry to have finished it. I so wanted more. Well done miss Hancock on such a fantastic journey. Mx

    Miss Carter's War

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and having been at school in the 50's there were a lot of things I could relate to. I think it is really well written.

A must read for all baby boomers.

Sheila Hancock captures a great picture of social change from the early 1950s till the early 21st century. There is deep compassion shown for Miss Carter who's life has been shaped by her own past. There is nothing to dislike about this story and everything to gain about life following WW2.This novel proves that as well as a great actress Sheila is a brilliant story teller
