    Reading on your Kobo tablet

You can read books or magazines from your personal Library, plus previews, library eBooks, eBooks you’ve bought in other stores and free eBooks from the Internet using the Kobo app on your Kobo Arc 7, Kobo Arc 7HD, or Kobo Arc 10HD.

You can read EPUBs and Enhanced EPUBs with the Kobo app, but to read PDFs on your Kobo tablet, you’ll have to download an app designed to display these kind of books or documents.

When you sync your Kobo Arc you’ll see all the books and magazines you currently have in your Library. If you’ve added EPUBs from your desktop, you can import them into your Library. You need the latest version of the Kobo app to read magazines on your Kobo Arc—if you’ve bought a magazine but don’t see it in your Library, sync your tablet and download any updates that are available.

Your Library is stored in the Kobo Cloud – a secure, free online storage area. The Kobo Cloud lets you manage how much of your Library content is downloaded to any device you’re reading on, so you can manage the memory used on each device.

When you sync your Kobo tablet, you’ll see the covers of all the books and magazines you currently have in your Library. You can download the content of individual books or magazines, or your entire Library.

    Notes:
    • Our eMagazine section is not available in all countries at this time.
    • You can’t import Adobe-protected DRM EPUBs to your Library—you need an app like Overdrive Media Console to read them on your Kobo tablet.
    • When you import EPUBs to your Kobo tablet, they’re only available to that specific tablet.

Syncing your Kobo tablet over Wi Fi

Syncing is short for synchronizing and means updating your Kobo Arc 7, Kobo Arc 7HD, or Kobo Arc 10HD with your latest books, magazines, bookmarks, Pocket articles, and account information.

When you sync your tablet, you’ll see the covers of all the latest books and magazines in your collections, and any Pocket articles you’ve added recently.

After you sync, if you see the Download icon on the cover of any books or magazines, it means the content isn’t on your Kobo tablet. Just tap the cover to download the content so it’s available to read.

    1. Tap the Home icon at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Swipe from right to left until you see your collections.
    3. Tap Books, Want To Read, Magazines, or Articles from Pocket.
    4. Tap the Sync icon at the top of the screen.
Your Library and Pocket articles will be updated.

    Importing books from your computer

You can import books from your computer to your Kobo Arc 7, Kobo Arc 7HD, or Kobo Arc 10HD and then add them to your Library.

You can only import DRM-free EPUBs to your Kobo Arc 7, Kobo Arc 7HD, or Kobo Arc 10HD. If you have Adobe DRM-protected EPUBs, you must use an app such as Overdrive Media Console to read them on your tablet. For details about adding books from your computer, click here.

    1. Tap the Home icon at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Swipe from right to left until you see your collections.
    3. Tap Books. All the books in your Library are listed.
    4. Tap the  Actions icon at the top of the screen.
    5. Tap .
    6. Tap Import Content.
    7. Select the checkbox beside the book you want to import.
    8. Tap Import Selected. A dialog box will appear.
    9. Choose what you want to do with the original:
      • Tap No to keep a copy of the book in your Memory card, and import the file.
      • Tap Yes to delete the copy of the book in your Memory card, and import the file.

Open a Pocket article on your Kobo tablet

Your Articles from Pocket collection includes all the text articles you’ve saved to your Pocket account while browsing the Internet, from an app, or from email.

You’ll see new articles in your Articles from Pocket collection almost immediately after you’ve added them, but if it’s taking too long, you can sync your Kobo Arc 7, Kobo Arc 7HD, or Kobo Arc 10HD to see new articles. Pocket articles are downloaded to your Kobo tablet so you can read them without a network connection. Because of this, you can only read articles with Article View, and you won’t find video-based articles on your Kobo tablet.
