    Recharging your Kobo eReader

    If your eReader stops responding try recharging it.

    When the eReader gets below a certain level of charge it will stop responding.
    • Plug the device into your computer with the included USB cable. Plugging it in will recharge the battery.
    • Device not recharging? Try using a different USB cable.

    If you’re having trouble connecting to a Wi Fi network or the Kobo Store, here are some things you can try.

    Checking your Wi Fi connection status

    If you’re having trouble connecting to a Wi Fi network or the Kobo Store, try checking your Wi Fi connection status.

    1. Press the Menu or Shop button.
    2. Check the network icon at the bottom of the menu.
      1. If the icon is black, then you are connected to the Wi Fi network. The problem exists with the Internet connection or the Kobo store. Please check with your Internet Service Provider.
      2. If the icon is gray, that means you're not connected to the Wi Fi network.

    Checking your battery charge

    Here's how to check your battery charge.

    1. Press the Menu or Shop button.
    2. Check the battery icon at the bottom of the menu to the right of the Wi Fi network icon.
    3. If power levels are low, the eReader may not be able to connect and maintain a Wi Fi Internet connection.

    Checking that you’re within range of the network

    Here's how to check that you're within range of your Wi Fi network.

    1. Press the Menu button.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad.
    4. Select Wireless.
    5. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad.
    6. Verify that the network you want to use appears in either the Known Networks list or the Unknown Networks list.
    7. Select the network you wish to use.
    8. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad.
    9. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad again to join that network.
    10. If you are prompted for a password or passphrase, enter it now using the keyboard.
      1. To ensure that you are typing the correct password, select Close on the screen.
      2. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad.
      3. Select Show Password.
      4. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad.
      5. Press the top of the Navigation Pad and enter the password using the keyboard.
    11. Select Next on the screen.
    12. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad.
    13. Select Join Network.
    14. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad.
    15. If the network login is successful, you will get a message to that effect.
    16. Press the centre of the Navigation Pad to accept the OK.

    If the basic Wi Fi troubleshooting tips don't work, try these advanced troubleshooting tips for your Kobo Wireless or Kobo Original eReader.

    • Try signing out and then signing back in to your account on your eReader.
    • Try resetting your eReader, then try connecting to the Wi Fi network again.
    • If possible, restart your wireless router.
    • Perform a factory reset of your eReader.
