    Thanks for your feedback!

Another excellent book by Amanda Flower!

Violet Waverly has reluctantly agreed to participate in grandma Daisy's bike race fundraiser for the Underground Railroad Museum. During the race, a private investigator is murdered. Then the body of a man found in Niagara Falls is identified as the ex-husband of police chief David Rainwater's sister. The police are convinced that the murders are connected and they suspect that Violet's favourite student Jo is somehow involved. Violet believes that Jo is innocent and decides to do her own investigation. Verse and Vengeance is a magical and enjoyable cozy mystery, with a wonderful cast of characters, a charming, picturesque small-town setting, and a well-plotted murder mystery. This is one of my absolute favorite cozy mystery series. When a new installment comes out it feels like catching up with old friends. The plot is complex and nicely paced. I did manage to correctly guess who the culprit was before the reveal but couldn't figure out the motive. I love how literature and magic play a role in helping Violet find clues. Overall, this is a wonderful addition to the series, and I can't wait to read the next book. Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

    I loved it!

Book number four in this series is the best yet! I was delighted to see this series picked up by a new publisher. Hopefully we can look forward to many more books in this series. This cozy includes a magical bookstore where the books choose you; and a resident crow that talks. The bookstore keeps steering Violet to the works of Walt Whitman to help solve the murder in this latest installment. The whodunit was well written and kept me guessing. The characters are top notch and interesting. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the next one. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

    Another winner from Amanda Flower

Amanda Flower is one of my must read authors. Her cozies are always full of smart heroines with adorable animals and she usually stumps me on whom is the murderer. Verse and Vengeance is no exception. I love Violet and Grandma Daisy. The magic is a fun element. I could not go into the bookshop because I would go broke. The bookshop can tell what you need or want to read and magically the shop has that exact book(s). The animals in this book are her tuxedo cat, Emerson, and the shop's crow, Faulkner. Those two are very mischievous, but they do not overtake the story. I also like how in each novel there is an author who's work is connected to the murder. In this case, it is Walt Whitman. The author does a great job of incorporating that element into the story. I also loved the ending! This is the fourth book in the series. You could read it as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read all of them. They are just that enjoyable. I can't wait for the next book! Thank you to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

I liked this book and the series.

I received a free copy of VERSE AND VENGEANCE (Book 4 of the Magical Bookshop Mysteries) by Amanda Flower in exchange for an honest review. Violet Waverly’s supporting Grandma Daisy’s endeavors as town mayor of Cascade Falls. Violet’s even participating in the first annual Tour de Cascade bike race. Things are going well financially with the bookshop and professionally at the college for the newly minted “Dr.” Waverly. However, Violet is still struggling with whether to tell her boyfriend Police Chief David Rainwater about her family’s magic when a few more stressors make an appearance: both her father and the disturbing private detective Joel Redding arrive back in town. When Joel Redding is murdered during the race, one of Violet’s students becomes the primary suspect. Since the bookshop persists in throwing Walt Whitman tomes at Violet and since her student’s situation resonates with Violet’s past, Violet’s compelled to action. Will Violet be able to use her literary research skills and natural curiosity to find out who really dunnit? I enjoyed this book and have enjoyed all of the books in this series. I recommend the writing and stories of Amanda Flower to fans of cozy mysteries. This series has supernatural element, a rivalry between and intelligent raven and a too-smart tuxedo cat, an interfering elder, and a wonderful boyfriend who is actually good at his job. #VerseandVengeance #NetGalley
