    Thanks for your feedback!

    I gave up halfway through

A book badly in need of a good editor. I don't usually give up on books but in this case I did after struggling through an interminable array of disjointed facts, geography and history with no apparent theme or consistent timeline (other than it was all in Germany - or Poland or Russia or some other nearby country). The author tries hard to be amusing but died in the trying. He may have an encyclopedic knowledge of Germany but I don't and I need some thread, some line of continuity to follow. Between that and the strained English (words that exist in no dictionary) I was left with the thought that a good editor would have stripped this down to size and given it shape.

Simon obviously does not like Germans nor Germany. He is flying one notch too high!
