    A good read

A bit of a change from the Falco and Albia series but a really good read, some of the characters could have warranted books of their own.

    A View of Pompeii

More of a short story, this book provides a glimpse into life at the time of the volcanic eruption at Pompeii. It's not a 'Falco' novel which this writer is famous for, but she uses her incredible knowledge of life at that time to paint a vivid picture of one of the world's most well-known natural disasters. It's a good book to pass the time on a train or plane, and made me search for more info on the other cities affected by Vesuvius. An interesting 'extra' for fans of Lindsay Davis.

    Vesuvius by Night

Very good account of the cataclysm as it could have unfolded.

    Pompeii

A vivid and plausible account of the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum by pyroclastic cloud. A pity about Nonius but they do say " only the good die young".
