    Excellent read

I really enjoyed Piper and Jase's story. Jase was a little gruff and abrasive at first but once we really got to know him it's hard not to fall in love with him. Piper's tenacity and sass were a delight and Jase never stood a chance! Unfortunately Piper's father thinks he knows best and the trouble he causes Jase could ruin them. This is a great friends to lovers story that I highly recommend to everyone.

    feel-good read

When We Fall is steamy and fast. I didn’t even realize how quick a read it actually was until I looked down at one point and was 2/3 of the way thru :) I really liked Piper and Jase. And I really appreciated that there wasn’t a lot of angst in their relationship. Piper knew from the get go what she wanted and that was Jase. She just had to convince him that he actually is the man that she knows him to be. Jase drags his feet for a bit (and pulled a crap move or two that gave me sympathy pains for Piper) but once he realized they could be together nothing was going to keep them apart. I love how easily they fit together and how much they supported each other. I’m not sure what I missed from Take the Fall but I get the idea that at least part of their lead up might be there. It wasn’t enough to make me confused but I love them so much that I am a little sad that I missed out on any of their romance. Two people with not-so-great starts in life find that together they can be so much more, leading to a wonderful, feel-good read. (Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review)

    Excellent!

So, I was weary going into this because I do not like the whole man-whore scenario, and our glimpse of Jace in the first book wasn't great, but since it is in tons of books nowadays, and it is pretty much the norm now for guys in books to sleep around, so I've grown to sort of look past it, but I still went into this book with a bit of apprehension, but Marquita Valentine handled the whole man-whore situation really well, and I really loved how this book developed. Piper has been in love with her best friend Rowan's brother since she was 14 years old, but she has trouble expressing herself and her feelings because she has grown up in a sheltered lifestyle with parents who are less than ideal, and it also didn't help that Jace didn't necessarily go for the right type of girl, and he made some bad decisions that led to him ending up in prison for 7 years, but even through all those years, Piper's love for Jace has remained. Jace has just recently been released from prison, and as soon as he is out he doesn't waste anytime making up for being locked up for 7 years with booze, sex, and drugs. Jace also has some feelings for Piper, but he doesn't think he is good enough for her, so he pushes her away, but Piper is hard for him to resist, and he begins to realize that he wants to make better choices for himself and for her as well. Jace and Piper are both a bit wounded, and together they grow into a more true version of the people they want to be, and begin to heal. Jace and Piper are adorable together, and the chemistry between them was electric. The sex scenes were great, well written, and had the perfect amount of steam. I loved both of them as characters, and I felt they weren't just surface characters; they had depth. I like the friends to lovers scenario, and I was glad Piper had some back bone when dealing with Jace. I enjoyed Jace and Piper's story. I look forward to reading the next books in this series; especially with the teasers we got in this book about some of the side characters. Seems to me there are some interesting stories there!

    Steamy and Sweet

Favorite Quotes: “Her short pink skirt and white sleeveless top make her look exactly like dessert. Like some kind of erotic Neapolitan sundae. My favorite kind of ice cream. Mostly because I’m a greedy bastard who doesn’t think I should be confined to one of anything.” “Most days, I feel like wallpaper – there for only decoration. There to look pretty and inoffensive.” “At five feet eleven, Rowan has the looks of a supermodel and the mouth of a sailor – two reasons why Seth is attracted to her.” “It’s unfair really, to have a parent so beautiful on the outside while simultaneously hideous on the inside.” “A man who has the face of an angel and kisses like the devil is my man, and not just any man. Jase. The guy I’ve loved since I was fourteen.” “You’re my world Piper, and I made a promise that no one would take that away from me.” “His hard body with its tattoos is a feast for the eyes. I swear he could be his own man candy page on Pinterest.” My Review: This was my first date with Marquita Valentine and I could kick myself for being so slow to notice her before - as it was love at first sight. I was instantly snared and totally invested in her tale before finishing the first page, she definitely has skills and has put them to good use. I was absorbed by the story and resented any interruption while reading this sweet and steamy love story of a good bad boy and a sweet neglected rich girl. Sure, it sounds like it’s been done before – but not like this. The writing was insightful and emotive from a dual point of view – which I highly enjoyed. The love scenes were sensual and deliciously steamy, and the relationship was sweet and satisfying. I adored the characters and enjoyed watching them evolve. I believe I would live happily ever after if I could clear my calendar and only read her work for the rest of my days.

    Forbidden Love

The story of Forbidden Love. Piper has always been in love with her best friend's brother. Jace has just gotten out of a seven year stint in prison when Piper makes her move. They have both grew up in different worlds but they both grow so much from this relationship. I really enjoyed these two characters, Jace is a tough guy to begin with, but you soon see his soft inner side. Piper shows so much growth and learning to stand up for self and her parents. Great sexual chemistry between these two. I recommend this friends to lovers story. I received this book from netgalley for an honest review.
