    Romance and Intrigue

After reading and loving “The Irresistible Rogue” which is also part of the regency romance Playful Brides regency series and introduced Cade into Rafe and Daphne’s story, I was ecstatic to learn that Rafe’s identical twin Cade would have his own story in “Never Trust A Pirate.” This is Cade and Danielle’s story. I have always enjoyed reading Valerie Bowman’s books. She is an exceptional writer and weaves stories that have flawless plots and captivate her readers. “Never Trust a Private” intrigued from the first paragraph and held my attention until the last word. This story had it all: romance, fast paced action, suspense, spies, intrigue, adventure, sexual tension, wit and surprising twists and turns that I never saw coming. She also brought back the enchanting teenager cousin Delilah. Bowman’s characters are fascinating and well developed. Both Cade and Danielle have secrets. What does secrets are and how they deal with them makes for an exceptional read and an enjoyable story. This is another Bowman winner and I highly recommend this book and the series. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion. It was my pleasure to read and review.

    Delightful story

Valerie Bowman' s characters are a delightful bunch to follow. I really enjoy their wit and banter they share with each other. I enjoy reading her series of books because I know that some of her characters will reappear. I can't wait for her next release.

    Historical Romance

Never Trust a Pirate by Valerie Bowman Playful Brides #7 Had me from the first page and did not let me go till the last…and then…I wanted to keep reading to know more about the wonderful characters in this book! Who is the Black Fox…this stealthy stealer of items and perhaps hearts? What mission is the Fox bent on in this story and will it be a success? Spies aplenty abound in this story with nobody quite sure who is spying on whom and who said spies work for. Throw in a pirate or two and a bit of time on a ship (just a bit) and you end up with a wonderful story waiting to be read. I loved Danielle! She was strong, resilient, resourceful, intelligent, charming and humorous. Cade was the perfect person for Danielle with his roguish ways, quick wit, charm, humor, skills, intelligence and so much more. The two brought out the best in one another and had so much fun doing so! I smiled, laughed, rooted for them to get a HEA and loved every moment reading this book. I was glad to hear the villain was thwarted and left curious about the puppet master of spies wondering if someday Grimaldi’s story will be shared. I have not read all of the books in this series but would love to at some point in time. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

    I Loved It

Danielle LaCrosse is a spy, working for the English crown. Her boss has sent her undercover as a ladies maid in a posh London home. That is about as far from her normal assignments as is possible to get. Cade Cavendish is the black sheep of his family. His hero twin brother has just been given the title Viscount, and until very recently believed his brother dead. Cade is a man with many different names depending on who he is with. He has one main purpose he is determined to carry out. Our characters are both devious but loving and loyal to their families. There is lots of fun, subterfuge and some sexy scenes. It is very easy to get involved in their lives. There is also danger when the enemy is confronted. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. It will however tempt you to read the previous book. I loved every page. Great fun.
