    Disappointed

I was, maybe unrealistically, hoping that this would be just like To Kill A Mockingbird but was seriously disappointed. I don't know, it might have been all the hype beforehand as well. I can, and have, read and reread To Kill A Mockingbird many times but I don't think this will have a second outing. I found it very hard work to read.

    Still worth reading

Not a classic like to kill a mockingbird but Scout has grown up exactly as I imagined her and Atticus' faults make him even more of a hero

    Worth the wait.

An exceptional sequel; heart-wrenching and gripping. Jean-Louise is no longer a small tree-climbing tomboy, but a grown women who is concerned for her father's mental health. Sad but a great read.

    A Worthy Second

Not as good as To kill a Mocking Bird. Certainly worth reading though. Sad, funny, frustrating and thought provoking. It was interesting to see the characters in a different light.

Great crescendo, but flat for the most part.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the conclusion, and the overall message, the majority of the book was a bit flat. It wasn't till the final two sections that I felt really invested. Perhaps on a second read through I will appreciate the nuance of the first 60% but I am left feeling that the only substantial part of this text was the final conversations between, Scout and her father and uncle. Still this is an enjoyable read, with many delightful and witty turns of phrase. Well worth your time.
