Kobo the First Global eReading Company to Launch Buy More Save More Program

December 11, 2014

TorontoDecember 11, 2014 – The “buy more save more” promotion – be it “get 3 books for the price of 2” or any variation therein – is a time-honoured tradition in the bricks-and-mortar book retail space.

And now, Kobo is the first global eBook retailer to offer the same type of promotion in digital form, rewarding passionate readers who purchase a lot of books, allowing them to stock up on favourite reads at favourable prices. For publishers, the “buy more save more” mechanism offers the opportunity to entice readers to dig deeper into their lists by offering incentives – making it easier on customers’ wallets when they buy in bulk.

“We wanted to find a way to allow readers to buy more of what they want while saving, and the best idea on how was no further away than the local bookstore,” says Dave Anderson, Vice President, Merchandising & Publisher Relations, Kobo. “We’re pleased to be able to offer our customers a reward for a multiple purchase. That no other global eBook retailer is able to do this is simply a bonus for us.”

To kick off this program, Americans can Get 3 Books for the Price of 2* until December 15 – perfect inspiration for curling up with by the fireplace, relaxing and reading this holiday season.

The publisher Hachette Book Group, home to some of the world’s bestselling authors, was first off the mark to partner with Kobo on this offer to bring the most passionate readers a selection of top reads such as Burial Rites by Hannah Kent, Lion’s Game by Nelson Demille, Beautiful Day by Elin Hilderbrand, Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple, Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes, and more. Kobo promises this is only the beginning – great “buy more save more” opportunities will be offered to passionate readers on a regular basis, for both books and magazines.

“This new feature makes it easier for people to enjoy more of the books they want to read at a better price, and we’re thrilled to be working with Hachette to launch the program,” says Anderson. “As we continue to work with our publisher partners, we know this new capability will prove to be an interesting and effective option to further promote their authors and series.”
