  • Everything my doctor didn't tell me

    I really needed this scientific and thourough explanation, so I could figure out how to fix my functional disorder. I had already tried almost everything mentioned in the book, even when my doctor told me that probably wasn't what was wrong or what would fix me. But I hadn't managed to connect how everything worked together just yet and was getting close to treatment exhaustion because none of it really worked when done seperately. I was continously told that it was important to accept my diagnosis if I ever wanted to get better, but accepting it also felt like I had to accept the doctors vague explanations and statistics stating that I only had a 30% chance of getting well and that it could take forever to get there. I was giving up on getting a normal life back when I found this book. EVERYTHING resonated with my experience and I finally got specific explanation that made sense biologically. It made it so much easier to see just how close I had gotten to treating myself, I just needed the final pieces. What really made a difference for me was the explanation of how you get into a cycle of creating new stress triggers and the type of exercise to do. No one could really give me a proper explanation for why one type would completely wipe me out and another leave me fine. Or why it would work some days and not others. It seemed so unpredictable until now and I felt like I was completely loosing control over my healt and life. I cannot believe the improvement I've seen since reading this book. I got hope back, and a quality of life I wasn't sure I'd ever get again.
