  • Great first book in the series!

Straight away, I was intriguingly pulled into a forest setting in the story, meeting three characters from different time eras, who’d not realised they’d time travelled. I liked the contrast this immediately conjured up and the humour that came from the clash between teenagers, Ash a millennial, Anne from the 1500’s, and George from the 1800s, who all had very different ways of looking at life. Especially considering they had literally just time travelled and didn’t know what was happening and who these strangers were. But that lead to them venturing further into the forest and finding a town that was unlike any of their hometowns, and found it was also supernaturally charged with alter power and rather unusually tall people. I liked the character development, where the main characters had to learn to band together and adjust to somewhere in the future, and that they also begun discovering some cool supernatural gifts themselves. I really liked the author’s charm as a great debut novel, with witty humour in her writing style, particularly shown through Ash, the central character. By the end of this book, I was still wanting to hangout with Ash, Anne and George, so picking up the next book in the series, Mountain of Glass, was easy. Perfect for anyone looking for a mix of sci-fic/fantasy/time travel genres.
