  • The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is the first book by Christopher Parker. This story has a romance in it, but is so much more. Amy lost her mother to an auto accident a month ago and is having a difficult time coping with her loss. Her father, who is a policeman, has business out of town and brings Amy with him, hoping a change of scenery will help her and bring them closer. I want to thank NetGalley and Beacon Press Limited for an early copy to review.

  • Many Genres

Eighteen year old amy recently lost her mom in a car accident. Her police officer father decides to take her on a work trip from Portland to Seabrook for a change of scenery. There she meets Ryan who teachers all about the infamous lighthouse, his ranch and horses and along the way they form a connection. This book is told from both Amy and Ryan's point of view and it takes place in a single day for the most part. It was a lovely story covering many genres including, young adult, paranormal, fantasy and romance. The writing was a little pedestrian but the plot was an interesting one and I loved the surprises it offered. This really did not read like a book for adults though, and that's okay, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

  • a stunning page turner

Wow! This book was marvellous. If you love books with massive unexpected twists then this is the book for you. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrator he really brought the book to life adding to the tension and atmosphere. The great thing is the twists that were so unexpected. Then boom this book hit another level, I just couldn't put this book down such amazingly powerful writing and emotions. The author is amazing at writing this unique story-line. The depth of characters allowed instant connections and allowed me to fall in love with them instantly. This is a real page turner full to the brim with twists and turns that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is so heart warming and devastating in equal measures. The ending without giving anything away was amazing I just couldn't predict it. The ending was so perfect . It felt so satisfying and a feeling of contentment. Its a perfect complete novel full of mystery and magical realism with a very errie feel to it. This book is beyond its 5 star rating its on another level. I would like to thank the author and publishing team for bringing us such an enchanting tale that will blow your mind. For a debut novel this author is definitely one to watch. I just can't wait to read further books by this talented author.

  • An intriguing look at living through grief

Wow! What an amazing audiobook! The author did an excellent job of drawing you into the characters grief, fear, loss, love and hope. I'm an avid audiobook listener so I don't always pay attention to the description of the book if the cover grabs me so I went into this book blind as to what it was about. If you like a good drama with mystical themes woven in, then this book is for you. After all, none of us really knows what happens after death so let this book offer you a new perspective to life, the in between and the after.

  • This will become a re-read for me

A book unlike any I have ever read. I read this book and quickly it became a part of me. I have been dreaming of the book the last couple of nights. It wasn't too long before when I stopped reading for a bit, my mind said, 'what will happen next?!' If I had to describe the book in one sentence it would be: Two souls battered by life find solace in each other's arms. In this day where everything has been done and is being redone, comes this book. Possibly the most original book written in the last 25 years. The book caused my jaw to drop. To be overwhelmed by a story written by an author is a rare thing. When everything makes sense, the simple fact is this is one of the best books ever written. I cannot recommend this book enough. This book will appeal to anyone who enjoys deep character development. This book will appeal to the romantic at heart. This book will appeal to anyone who has ever suffered the loss of a loved one. This book will appeal to fans of great books. Buy this book, make it a best seller. You won't regret buying this book. This will become a yearly re-read for me. Disclaimer: I bought a copy on Amazon CA. My Rating: 5+ stars
