    Not your typical Historical Romance

For Rose Deverill, one husband was enough. As the wealthy widow of the Duke of Roxborough, she has cultivated an unsavory reputation meant to discourage wife hunters. Thanks to a string of steamy affairs, Rose is perfectly content to be known by polite society as the “Wicked Widow”—until she’s reunited with the man she fell in love with at age fifteen. Their bedroom encounters are scorching, but it breaks Rose’s heart to wonder whether her reckless behavior ruined her for Philip Flagstaff. The second son of the Earl of Cumberland, Philip never wanted the title. But after Philip’s older brother, Robert, follows him into the Battle of Waterloo, his worst fears come to pass. Now Robert lies in a soldier’s grave, and Philip is determined never to pass on the inheritance to children of his own. Then Rose appears, soothing the pain with her delightful curves and passionate kisses. The notorious Duchess seems to want nothing from him—and yet Philip has never ached to give a woman more. We have here a strong independent and wealthy widow with a son she adores and an Earl who never wanted to be earl, ridden from grief and guilt. Rose had been wed to an old Duke and is now the Duchess, free of the Duke, content with her life she is doing what pleases her. She is set on never marrying again, there is no need for her. Her late husband left her enough money and she is taking some lovers, keeping those intent on marrying her at bay. Her anchor is her little son. But one day she is reunited with the man she used to love as a teen, Philip, and that is the beginning of an affair for both of them. Rose considers for the first time her feelings for him, but is her reputation her ruin for a future with him? Philip on the other hand promised his dead brother to be level-headed and responsible as the earl, fulfilling his duty to his family and his dead brother. He did not share the secret promise with anyone. Rose gives him a purpose and joy which leads to more guilt. She is soothing his deepest wounds. They settle in a convenient arrangement, but all things come to an end and soon they are pulled into a game far bigger than what you might think. What I really liked are the characters, they are strong, independent, with flaws, but very loveable. Bronwen draws a picture of a woman who is at peace with herself, finally free of the shackles of an arranged marriage, but not broken. Enjoying her life as much as possible without completely disregarding the tons rules. She is smart enough to know exactly what her actions mean, taking what she craves and valuing what came out of her marriage. As you can already se, I am not into the spiritless virgins that drop at the heroes feet after first seeing him. Rose is a grownup who can analyze a situation and emotions. And the hero has a troubled past, avoiding one of the tons most important rules, but fully aware of his duty for his family. He changes from his young self to also a grownup. And finally we have a great story. It starts off with a love affair and soon becomes a portrait of emotions. And then there comes something entirely else (I can’t say more or I would spoil the read). But the story got me by surprise and I truly enjoyed where the author took us. Read the book in one go and it won’t be my last book from this author.

    Emotive and exciting

Bronwen Evans never fails to deliver. A Love to Remember is the seventh book in the Disgraced Lords series and is as exciting and enchanting as those that went before it. This Regency romance has drama, suspense and a rich love story. Rose, The Duchess of Roxborough has created a reputation for herself, thus ensuring that she remains a widow, having had a miserable first marriage. Her only reward is her pride and joy, her young son Drake. Rose has been in love with Philip, the Earl of Cumberland since she was fifteen. Only Philip was never meant to be the Earl, but rather his older brother who died on the battlefield saving his sorry hide. The attraction between Philip and Rose engulfs them and they launch into a torrid love affair on the understanding that neither of them wants marriage. However, circumstances change and the parameters shift, leaving Rose heartbroken as Philip remains steadfast to his vow never to marry. Rose is not aware of the fact that she has enemies and is shocked when they make their move, putting her and young Drake in danger. When the threat to Rose increases, Philip finds that he can no longer remain passive and has to make a choice. A Love to Remember is emotive, exciting and kept my interest the whole way through. When the enemy is revealed it is as shocking to the reader as to Rose herself, and one is kept in suspense right to the end. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

    Historical Romance

Phillips feels unworthy of his Earldom but promises himself to do his brother proud taking up the mantle. In his mind that means never marrying or begetting a child that will be the future Earl. For two years he and Rose, a widowed duchess, have an affair. He holds true to his resolve wanting an affair forever as she begins to want marriage and children – with him. Whether or not the two will end up with a HEA depends on whether or not Phillip will come to his senses and learn to live for himself in joy rather than remain feeling guilty about the death of his brother Robert. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House-Loveswept – this is my honest review

Pulls you in and keeps you reading

This story pulled me in from the beginning and I did not want to stop reading. It engaged my heart and mind. I laughed, I cried, and cheered for Rose and Phillip. The passion between these two is off the charts. As they try to find their ways out of their pasts into a future, you root for them to see what is right in front of their eyes. I highly recommend this story, and I have enjoyed the series but feel that this is the best one. This is a must read. I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

    I Loved It

Philip Flagstaff, the Earl of Cumberland inherited his title from his brother. It was his fault his brother died, so he is determined not to benefit from what happened. He has two younger brothers so he doesn't need to marry to ensure the title. He will just make sure everything is safe for those that depend on him. Rose Deverill, the Duchess of Roxborough is called the Wicked Widow. Her much older husband died just after his son was born, and she has plenty of money so she can do as she likes. Her lover has no more need for marriage than she, so they are happy as they are. Aren't they? Pressure starts to increase on our hero to do the right thing, but he has a very good reason not to. When someone's life is in danger some old friends are called on to help. A tense and emotional story with lovely strong characters. There are lots of exciting and unexpected things happening. You will meet old friends from previous stories. If you haven't read the others this will tempt you. I have loved all of them. The stories just keep getting better and better. I loved it.
