    A real touching story

I haven’t read the previous two books in this series but I was able to follow this story with no problems and fall in love with the Hurley family. I really loved this book. There’s something incredible appealing about second chances. I can honestly say it’s hard for me to review this book, because I can relate to part of it. My parents got divorced when I was 6, they never got back together because my mom moved on and that’s totally ok because they were kind of awful together. I can understand that sometimes great things happen to people at the wrong moments, sometimes we’re just not ready to appreciate it, to cherish it. That was my dad’s case and that’s probably why I understand all the background of this book and why I was moved by it. Lauren Dane wrote a real touching story. I really loved Kelly, her relationship with her daughters and I liked that Vaughan was determined to do everything to get his family back. The only but here is that, from my point of view, Kelly fell into the relationship a little fast even though she made him work to prove that he changed. I will probably go back to read the first two books in this series and I would love to read a book about Kelly’s best friend, Stacey! I received a copy of this book for free, through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

    Favorite book in the series!!!

Review copy provided by publisher I'm a huge fan of Lauren Dane and totally had my fan-girl moment when I met her at RWA this summer. Seriously I'm pretty sure I stumbled over every single word I said to her, but did get a picture with her. I love all her books, but the Hurley Boys series has an extra special place in my heart. I absolutely adored Back to You and can say without a doubt it is my favorite book in the series. I've wanted Vaughan and Kelly back together since the very first book and knew it would take Vaughan getting his head out of his butt for them to become a family again. I love both Kelly and Vaughan so much as both individuals and as a couple. Kelly is one of the strongest characters. I have to say she was way nicer than I could ever have been to Vaughan's family to make sure their girls got to spend time with his family when his mom treated her so badly. I loved that Kelly always put the needs of her daughters above any of her personal feelings so they would always have family around them. Vaughan really only needed to grow up and see what he was missing out on to realize how much his family, and especially Kelly really meant to him. I love it took Kelly getting engaged for Vaughan to finally step up to be the man both Kelly and their girls needed in their lives. Kelly and Vaughan have some of the hottest chemistry of any of the couples in this series. Since this is a Lauren Dane book and she writes some of the hottest sex scenes ever, that is totally saying something. My kindle was smoking each and every time Kelly and Vaughan were together. I will say I absolutely loved that Kelly made Vaughan wait for them to be together once he moved back in. Making him sleep in the guest room and only come in her room to talk made me respect her even more, especially since Kelly still wanted Vaughan every bit as much as he wanted her. Vaughan had some big mistakes to make up for from his past and I loved that Kelly didn't give him a pass on one single thing. Yes he was stepping up and being the husband and father he was always meant to be, but he still had to atone for his mistakes and I just about cried when he finally told his parents the truth of his mistakes in his relationship with Kelly. He knew he would disappoint them, yet Kelly and his children were more important than his image with his parents. I think that was the point I totally fell for Vaughan, as I wanted him to prove himself every bit as much as Kelly did. Back to You is the end of the Hurley Boys series and I actually put off reading it for a bit after the release as I was so sad to see the series end. Back to You was the absolute perfect ending to this series. I loved watching all the brothers find happiness and each of their perfect mates.

A story of trust and forgiveness

This story has a different conflict setup in that the couple in question, Vaughan and Kelly have already been divorced for several years for a variety of reasons. Discovering that Kelly is considering marrying someone else is the wake up call for Vaughan to get his act together, admit his faults and make a real and concerted effort to regain the family that he lost through his own faults. The story moves along at a steady pace and much of it is devoted to repairing the trust that was broken in their marriage, so it isn't overly dramatic or action packed, just heartfelt. There are no shocking revelations, and I found it to be very low angst. I liked how Kelly was able to stand up for herself and be clear in her expectations of Vaughan. I also really enjoyed their two daughters and the obvious love and affection that Vaughan had for them even during his estrangement with Kelly. I don't always enjoy children in romances but these two girls were quite delightful. The sexual chemistry between them never has abated even during their divorced years, and since sex was never the problem before, it isn't now. They share several steamy scenes once Kelly feels that Vaughan is sincere in his efforts to become part of her life again, and I loved seeing their connection get stronger and stronger. There are family issues to sort out, some due to Vaughan's mistakes and some due to Kelly's parentage. It all made for a strong story of family ties and togetherness, with several appearances from Vaughan's brothers rounding out the mix. I felt that Vaughan really had shown that he had changed for the better, and I was delighted with the overall reconciliation and forgiveness theme. 4 stars.

    I loved it!

What's not to love about second chances, especially when two people never really stop loving each other? Eight years ago, Vaughan Hurley messed up big time and lost one of the best things that ever happened to him: his wife Kelly. It's taken her getting engaged to another man to get him to realize that the window of opportunity for getting her back is fast closing. Vaughan has always been a 'vacation' dad to their two daughters and now he has a great chance to be in the thick of it, helping out with his ill daughter and temporarily raising his girls alongside their mother and working on winning Kelly back. There are so many things to love about this story but what stands out the most for me is that Vaughan and Kelly are characters anyone can relate to. Yes, they are both world-famous - Vaughan is a famous rock star and part of a band with his brothers and Kelly was a model - but they are still people who want the same things everyday people do, things like love, relationships, families, a sense of belonging, happiness. They are also dealing with a broken marriage and what led to the breakdown and for Kelly, whether or not to trust Vaughan again. Eight years ago, Vaughan was too immature to appreciate what he had and handled things badly but this Vaughan who finally has his priorities right, who's so honest and open about his mistakes and working to make things right with Kelly is so easy to love. Kelly is amazing! She's smart, beautiful and a successful businesswoman but all of that pales beside her strength. She was a successful model at age fourteen, with a very psycho mother who chipped at her self-esteem all her career but she took all of the damage and turned it into something positive, becoming a role model to her daughters. She's a fierce mama lioness when it comes to her kids (take that, Ross!). Kelly and Vaughan have their hands full being parents and working on their relationship and building the trust again but it helps that they never stopped loving each other and are open to making things work again. I loved how Vaughan put himself out there, working on fixing the relationship between Kelly and his family, learning to be a full-time dad to his girls and being so protective of Kelly. BACK TO YOU is a very moving story of reconciliation and redemption and shows what I love about Ms. Danes writing: her ability to peel back the layers and show the hearts of her characters.

    A good heartwarming story.

Back To You by Lauren Dane is a story of second chances, secrets, heartache and pain. This is the type of story that I would normally like, a bad boy discovering the error of his ways before it is too late. A good story about never losing site of what is important. Received an ARC for an honest review.
