    Fascinting

Great journalism. I was both fascinted and appalled at the content. The amount of behind the scene manipulation over several decades by monied far right billionaires is mind blowing. Wow...duped. No wonder America is so mixed up and polarized. A criticism, I did find the book long and had trouble keeping track of who was who in the zoo.

    Dark Money, Dark Politics

Very concerning, even as a Canadian, one can see and feel the Dark Money influence. Shocking state of politics in US, Mayer has certainly written a compelling book.

    Very telling

A very telling book depicting how a small minority has hijacked American Democracy. Very well done a must read.

    Eye opening

Interesting (and depressing) to see how thoroughly the US government is controlled by a small number of ultra rich libertarians.

    Mining Dark Passages

This is a terrific, deeply researched book with well-connected dots to follow. The more I read, the more it was apparent how the current political state of America across the three branches of government and state houses has become so extremely right wing. The ability of the very richest and most powerful to game the system while regular people end up with next to nothing, even though we work hard and play by the standard set of rules, just shows how completely undemocratic America and much of the world has become now. The overtaking of America by the extreme right has been going on for 40 plus years, and the overall trajectory described in this book was known to me, but connecting the dots and pointing out many of the mechanisms underpinning how it happened is something that all Americans should understand. Unfortunately, books such as Jane Mayer's don't end up in the mainstream media for most people to find out about.
