This thrilling book is aone-sitting read!

We first met DI Kelly Porter in Dark Game by Rachel Lynch. In Deep Fear, Kelly begins the investigation of the murder of a woman. The body was found with what appeared to be a symbolic act. Kelly and her team work feverishly to locate and arrest this killer before another senseless murder is committed. Before they can catch the suspect, however, other bodies are found soon after. Although the bodies continually rack up, and the fact that the evidence points to the murders being connected, the mystery remains bone-deep. This case becomes rather terrifying as things become far too close to home for Kelly. A race against the clock begins as Kelly never could have imagined. Deep Fear is definitely a one-sitting read! It was impossible to guess who the killer was. Add to this a thrilling conclusion and this makes this book a keeper. I look forward to reading more from Rachel Lynch. Many thanks to NetGalley and Caneli for this ARC to review.

    Great British Mystery

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in the series of DI Kelly Porter. The story takes place in the Lake District which I have become so familiar with from this and other books that I feel at home there. While assigned to a major case of what turns out to be a case of a serial killer, Kelly also is taking care of her sick mother who is dying of cancer. Her relationship with her sister Nikki is rapidly deteriorating with the sisters constantly bickering over who should do what for their mom. The bodies at first don’t seem to have much in common other than they are all posed in beautiful spots around the Lake District with a line or two from the poets famous for their poetry from the District. The story races to the end with Kelly finally catching the murderer whom she has actually come across several times. I highly recommend this book and its predecessor and sincerely hope there are more coming. Thanks to #NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my unbiased review. Easy 5 stars.

    Action Packed

This is the second book in the DI Kelly Parker series. The first one was brilliant, and so is this one. The setting is in the Lake District - my old stamping ground growing up with rambling, boating and rock mountaineering in Borrowdale and a team member of the rescue squad. A winter picture of Wastwater on a mobile screen. WOW! SO envious! My favourite, moody, sinister-looking place. Thank you for those memories. What makes the book stand out for me as well as nostalgia is the detail and all the interesting sub-themes like the Lake Poets - a bit of culture, graphology, philosophy and the psychological aspects. There was evidence gathering, the Autopsy while I was scoffing my pot noodles, how to deliver bad news to victim's families, interpretation of the facts they glean and the skilful questioning. Rob Shawcross is the new side-kick, so we learn how he's trained. I learnt such a lot about procedures. It's brought out well how little personal life detectives can enjoy. We learn more about Kelly's home and personal life. There are lots of victims, feasible suspects and red herrings and hold fast to your chair with the tense, nail-biting action at the end as they smoke out the miswired perp. Highly recommended reading. Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo.

    great read

Deep Fear is the second book in the DI Kelly Porter series and this time DI Porter is facing a serieal killer who murders people for the bad things done in life. The bodies are hidden in places easy to find and the notes, the police is finding in the bodies, makes it obvious that the killer thinks his handing out punishment where it belongs. I really liked the plot and the setting was beautiful (if it ever can be the case with murders). The building up to the point when finally we (the reader and the DI) find out who the killer is was brilliant. And then came a twist that made for an even better ending, with moments fearing the worst for not only Kelly Porter but her family as well.

    Keeps the pages turning

Another great book in the DI Kelly Porter series. Couldn’t put it down. If you like a good British murder with police and forensics this is for you.
