    A sweet book

What a sweet book. I love that the protagonists are older adults. This book explores family and belonging. The ending was a little obscure.

    Extinctions by Josephine Wilson

A sensitive, thoughtful and honest novel. The book explores many issues ~ grief, love, domestic violence, aging, parenting. It could be a miserable book but it isn't. Some of the situations are very amusing, even funny and the author has created believable and complex characters. Wilson's basic optimism and belief in the possibility of redemption in the face of human fallability make this an interesting and positive read.

    JUDITH HOLT

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Being in my 80's may have contributed to my understanding of the characters and their ways of coping with old age and its challenges. It was an easy and pleasurable read for me.

    Extinctions

This is a fabulous read. The author has great insight into how many many older generations think and react to any given situations that take them out of their comfort zone. The sentiments reflected of retirement villages reflect exactly to those of my own. Frederick (as he is always known) except when he met Jan who just easily called him Fred. His encounter with Jan, the worriesome neighbour with the birds does what Martha his wife could not do, she makes him change and makes him plunge into decision making with regards to the welfare of his family. It’s all very well to have a successful career but being a successful parent is a new challenge for Frederick, better late than never.

    Absorbing and stimulating!

I loved the writing and narrative encompassing past and present. However I felt disappointed and cheated with the ending.
