    Terrifying, Enlightening, Inspiring

...and just a little preachy. It's impossible to read this book and not learn something. Friedman has a unique ability to both educate and inspire. At one point, when he ascribes a political agenda to Mother Nature, one feels we're learning more about the author than his subject. Thw book remained almost impossible to put down.

    Thank you for being clear

This book brings so many threads that are weaving together at increasing speed and complexity to create our (potentially beautiful but often scary) present and future world. While reading Mr. Friedman's detailed and clear explanations I felt that I was understanding many of these threads much more clearly. I find his call to each of us to be responsible to do what we can to create and sustain the communities where we live and are grounded both heartening and challenging. In the face of what often seems dehumanizing and overwhelming, I have to agree with Mr. Friedman that building human communities may be our best hope.

    Expected more

Found the last half of book repetitive. A long hard read.

    Inspiring

A great read. Took some time but got through it. Grew up in a similar environment but was not lucky enough to have the links to go back. Born in Bergen Belsen after the war. Came to Canada, one of the best countries on the planet to welcome immigrants even with the anti semitism we encountered during the trip from then to now. My friends and family consider me the eternal optimist. Glad to meet another.

A great read for our time

Thoroughly enjoyable. Mr Friedman provides a firsthand narrative dissecting society while providing a roadmap to future success
