    Different, dangerous and heartfealt

I loved everything about this book: Protagonists that come from the fringes of society, solid writing and a unique premise. There's anarchy and magic in this book. It is short and fast reading, really hard to stop once you've started.

I wanted more with my Anarchy.

The story left me feeling hollow. Unfulfilled. It taps into the zeitgeist of right now. People asking what pronoun they prefer when they meet. It dips its toe into what an anarcist society might look like, but we only get a hint of it. By the end I didnt care who lived or died. It takes most of the book to see any differences between the characters. The book could have benefitted from about a hundred more pages at the beginning. It should have started around the time the residents call forth the demon. We feel the threat of lost of Anarchy as a sub-group moves to Monarchy, and how that looks. Once the demon is called forth and does its job, then jump to when Dani comes to town. That way I care about the outcome of the people and the town. Give me a reason to have skin in the game. There is not enough "true" anarchy represented in literature, and when I come across it, I want more of it.
