    Undecided

Good prose, deep thoughts. Plot-wise I think it'a a little bit Haruki Murakami-ish. I had the same feeling I had after reading The Colorless Tsukuru.

    A Cautionary Tale

(i devoured the physical book, not the e-book. a second hand book.) a beautiful tale which cautions for an unexamined life, unreliable memories caused by invented lies. reading it is as smooth as reading a Ishiguro or tasting a Murakami. i like it. (but i like the movie version more than prose because of the resolution in the end.) :-)

Truly "an author at the height of his powers". This short book is one of the most beautiful I've read in a long time and I could only wish it had been longer. Certainly a very worthy winner of than Man Booker prize.

    The Sense of an Ending

Pitch perfect elegy. It asks and answers the question what is left when we are left with our memories? How well can we be said to understand our own lives? How little does it take to completely unsettle our familiarity with ourselves? Barnes accomplished something earthshakingly good in a fraction of the space you might expect he'd need - there was no wasted movement, no fat on this book.
