    Unsettling and tense

An unsettling novel. A well thought out and well-written book to engage your interest with an excellent escalation of suspense. There is a sinister thread running through it which had my nerves stretched to breaking point at times. It's a chilling stalker theme mainly directly towards Lizzy Beresford. I thought she was a little careless with her safety in her volatile situation. I couldn't guess who was making her life a misery despite all the red herrings. During the most nerve-wracking part of the book, I was tense, and the dog suddenly jumped on the bed, and he scared the living daylights out of me. Trust issues were an important part of the theme. How extraordinary that hate, resentment, and revenge can grow like cancer for many years until it flares up out of all proportion. An interesting glimpse of mental illness. I thought it ended on a precipice. It wasn't over. I was left wondering if there could ever be genuine forgiveness amongst the sisters. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

    Another Winner

I just finished The Silent Sister by Shalini Boland and she has definitely turned into one of my favorite authors. The book is extremely fast paced and totally absorbing and if you don’t have enough time to read for awhile you should probably postpone it. I thought I had guessed the ending for the first time in my life but then a couple of pages sent the story in a totally different direction and ended on that note. An absolutely great book and I will happily recommend this book to anyone and am sure this will be a runaway success. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book ahead of publishing in exchange for my unbiased review. Five stars.

    Exciting Read!

THE SILENT SISTER By Shalina Boland Lizzy Bedford has been getting strange notes from a stalker and it’s driving her mad trying to figure out who it is. She finally contacts her estranged sister Emma, hoping to get the answers she is seeking. I enjoyed reading this book because I was completely lost as to who the stalker was. I’m the one who can figure it out from the beginning, and actually thought I had…but I sure was wrong! I felt I knew Lizzy, she was a strong character in the book. She was independent yet could be vulnerable also at times. I believe she didn’t like having to depend on other people, while at the same time realizing she needed to. This book will keep you guessing until the end, it’s a fast pace, and will pull you in from the beginning. I give this a 5 star!

    A real page turner!

Author Shalini Boland has done it again by giving us another fantastic psychological thriller. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and is a real page turner. Lizzy and Joe live together and she starts getting mysterious letters followed by other weird things that happen to her and then to her estranged sister. When I thought I had it figured out, I found out I was wrong. There are lots of twists and turns in this book and I certainly did not see that ending coming! I liked all the characters except for Joe who is very unlikable right from the start! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a fantastic thriller that you will not want to put down. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

    Loved this book!

The Silent Sister by Shalini Boland is a psychological thriller. My Synopsis: Lizzy Beresford lives in a small cottage in a quiet town with her boyfriend. When she receives a strange note from an unknown source, she freaks a little. When she gets more, she gets the police involved. While the notes aren’t actually threatening, she knows she is being watched. As her paranoia increases, Lizzy starts to doubt everyone around her. Could one of her “friends” be responsible? Joe Lawrence, Lizzy’s over-protective boyfriend borders on being a control freak. Leon Whittaker, who had a run-in with Joe a little while ago, still wants a chance with Lizzy. Pippa, her best friend, may be stealing from their employer. Pippa’s brother seems shy, but is he? Her boss, George, relies on Lizzy, and rents her the cottage, but does he have a key? Her neighbours are a little “out-there”. Then there is her sister Emma. Lizzy and Emma do not speak to one another, not since Emma tried to take Lizzy’s boyfriend. But did she? As the threats start to escalate, her only choice will be to confront Emma. My Opinions: Well, at first I wasn’t really enjoying the writing. Even with short chapters, it sort of dragged. The characters seemed a little shallow, and I didn’t really find myself liking too many of them, including Lizzy. Then the plot took over, and every concern I had disappeared. This was more than a book about stalking. This was a book about family. It ended up to be a very pleasant, fast read, with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages. I love trying to figure out who the bad guy is….and this time, although I had an inkling, I couldn’t figure out the motive. That was good, so I loved the ending. Then, the epilogue had another twist (although I didn’t like it). Boland keeps you guessing! Looking forward to more from this author.
