    Fantastic read

For fans of Barbara Erskine i can recommend this book. It is a sad but beautiful book to read. Its about a mother who did everything she could to try and save her kids. Only one survives the Irish famine. A woman in the present time wants to write a book about her ancestor, she goes to Ierland to find out about him. She gets confronted by past and present.

One that you cant put down. She is very talented at combining 2 storylines easily and you are drawn into both.

    Excellent Story, Fascinating History

I’ve always been a lover of history, especially that if the United Kingdom. This story is special in so many ways, the relationships feel real, the challenges are relatable, and the mystery keeps you intrigued. I highly recommend it.

    Excellent book

An excellent read. Usually with dual timeline books I tend to like one time over the other, but with this book I loved them both equally. Jumping between the Hunger in 1840's Ireland and the present day we are introduced to Kitty and her family during the famine, and Maria her great great great granddaughter in the here and now. Maria's search for what happened to Kitty and her children leads us to a sometimes harrowing description of 19th century Ireland, but one that leads to a fantastic picture of the lengths a mother will go to to protect her family. Compelling reading.

    An entertaining read.

This story kept me coming back. While I was very busy while reading this, it kept my interest enough that I could jump back into it quickly. It's a simple story, yet a positive one.
