    Five Stars

The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski is a great introduction to a great series. I would suggest reading this one first, then Sword of Destiny and Blood of Elves. The short stories introduce a lot of recurring characters in the series. The stories are quick and enjoyable reads, with lots of humor. As soon as the book ended, I was ready to pick up the next one.

    Gritty Dark Fantasy

Our first introduction to Geralt of Rivia, monster slayer. The reluctant anti-hero. The grizzled pragmatist. The lover of buxom maidens and scintillating sorceresses alike. The character's exploits are entertaining and the world you're introduced to is a giant moral gray area.

    Just Ok.

It’s a story based in a fantasy world filled with slightly twisted versions of assorted fairy tales. It is ok, for what it is... I have seen the same done both better and worse. For one book, it also tries to drag through an awful lot of material as well. Most of the adventures the Witcher goes on are a little pointless to the story as a whole, and feel like filler more than anything else. Also, not a terribly big fan on the non-linear method of story telling. I get why it was done, the author wanted to end on a specific scene or two that would be spoiled otherwise, but the degree to which it is done, and with very little to indicate “when” in the story we are, it was annoying.

    Like the show

I watched season one of the Witcher, then reading this book after was great. I am going to watch the season again because the book fills you In a little more about the time line. Great book.
