  • Great addition to the Wilde family

What do you do when you're about 200 years before your time? Betsy Wilde is presented with this conundrum. She wants to ride astride. Wear pants. Be thought of as a equal to men. But is stymied at every turn. She's the belle of the London season, but in her heart...she just doesn't want to be like her mother. What do you do when you've been to war. The men you've commanded have all perished. You feel responsible. Fireworks at a celebration in London bring back the worst day of your life and you're confined to a mental hospital because you've lost control. Then you're taken in by the Wilde family to rest and heal. Betsy and Jeremy are living in close proximity and can't stand each other. Both have their own agenda, but there's just something about the two of them together that makes both stronger. I really enjoyed Betsy and Jeremy's story. Betsy was such a strong feminist, although she had no idea that even existed. Jeremy was broken and suffered from PTSD, although he had no idea that even existed. Together they were able to become better than either of them could individually.

  • Delightful Story

I received an ARC of this book to read through Edelweiss+ in exchange for a fair review. Say No to the Duke by Eloisa James is the fourth book in her delightful Wildes of Lindow Castle series. I’m going to use the word delightful twice or more in the same review because that’s what this book is, an absolute delight so much so that I devoured the entire book in a day and may have to go back and read it once more. It could perhaps be read as a stand-alone but I really enjoyed the series and I think you should read them all because the characters in this book are in the previous books and you watch them grow and change over the series. Lady Boadicea (Betsy) Wilde is a most excellent heroine, she is bold, very intelligent, and strong. I was about to describe her as fearless but she is not, she does have her fears as we all do but she seeks to find ways to overcome them not letting them paralyse her and if that means putting on the mask of the perfect debutante she will do that and excel, gathering proposals of marriage like daisy’s on a chain. Lord Jeremy Roden is her equal as a hero, damaged by war and suffering from PTSD he is recovering at Lindow Castle and has taken up occupancy of the billiards room drinking whiskey like it’s water and struggling through the hellish nightmares that war has left him with.He too is finding ways to overcome his fears. Thanks to a little matchmaking by Aunt Knowe, Betsy and Jeremy gradually come to know each other without their masks and it is a lovely slow burn of a romance full of moments that make you pause to read them again because … delight, one of which would be the moment where the title makes sense. • amazing romance

Say No to the Duke is book four inThe Wildes of Lindow Castle series by Eloisa James. This is a superb romp. Great chemistry between the hero Lord Jeremy Rosen and the heroine Lady Boadicea Wilde. I laughed and laughed at the witty banter between Jeremy and Betsy (Boadicea). I have read each book in this series and I have enjoyed them all. I do think it’s important to read them in order. Way too many Wildes to just jump in midstream. James is a master with layering her characters and giving them convincing depth. There are a few sex scenes in this that are quite steamy. I can’t wait for the next book. Bravo Ms James. I won a paperback copy of this book.
