    Wow, just wow!!!

I am a die hard fan of Sawyer Bennett's and will read anything she writes. I probably should have read the description for this book before reading it. If you are going into this thinking it will be her normal romance books, it is not. It is heartbreaking and gut wrenching. Most books that I'm told will bring me to tears don't. This book had me ugly crying. Just be forewarned. The book was very difficult to put down and reads very quickly. A broken Marine, a dying boy, a suicidal girl and a girl with an incurable disease, that meet somewhat through chance. Brought together by tragedy, their lives will be forever changed. This is not a hot and steamy romance. It's tragedy with a silver lining, and somewhat of a HEA. You will have an emotional book hangover when you finish reading. The book was amazing, even with the subject matter. Make sure you have a box of Kleenex handy, you will need it. Some of the content may be disturbing for some readers. If I had to do it all over again, I would read it in a heartbeat. It was a amazing story, but it was heartbreaking, keep that in mind. Another book Sawyer Bennett knocked out of the park!! Happy Reading!!

This story touched my heart I definitely loved it!

The story itself centers around Four people with nothing in common but their destination. The Truth About Sunshine is a difficult but memorable book. I was hooked straight away. The story is tragic, painful, heart-breaking, emotional, beautiful, hopeful and inspiring. A fantastic and compelling read nonetheless. Beautifully well-written, in a way that I could see and feel everything this characters were going through while following their journey. I found myself engrossed in this book, crying, laughing, holding my breath, frenetically turning page after page, unable to put the book down until I knew what would become of this characters and their turbulent lives! Oh, is there romance in the story, you may ask. Well, the answer is yes. I enjoyed Author Sawyer Bennett's writing style on this book as much I have in the past; even though this story is different to the ones I'm accustomed to, her descriptions of the events, the characters and her brilliant storytelling never ceases to amaze me. This story touched my heart! I never expected this book to go where it went, but I definitely loved it, and highly recommend it!!

    Absolute must read!

WOW...now that I've gotten past the huge ugly cry this emotionally charged story brought on I am going to try and write a somewhat comprehensible review. First and foremost - if you haven't purchased your copy of this one, go, now, do it!!! Five stars is not nearly enough to describe the story that is contained in this book. It will pull out every emotion contained within you from joy to sadness, from happiness to anger, you will feel something from every single page. I don't want to get into too much of the story because you will want to experience everything yourself as you turn the pages. Just know that even though it will make you cry (yes, even the hardest hearts will cry) it is a story that will leave you with hope. Hope for a brighter tomorrow and the life it contains.

In Pursuit of a Bucket List

The Hard Truth About Sunshine is an incredibly special book. Throwing together a group of four individuals facing uncertainty and pain in their lives for a variety of reasons, Miss Bennett forces the reader to look beyond the standard romance elements and appreciate a journey. I’ll admit the praise and reviews proclaiming this book different and one that left many crying with a book hangover made me put off starting this for a little while. The blurb immediately snagged my attention, but I’m always hesitant to start a book heaped in praise for fear it won’t measure up. However, the characters, their growth, and the unrepentant honesty in each individual’s story made this a wonderful and memorable read. Told entirely from one character’s point of view, the book naturally focuses on Christopher’s growth but also tells the stories of three other young adults he meets in a support group. The road trip comes about as an attempt to allow a member of the group check off items from his bucket list. There is a romance element to the story and while it’s certainly an important component of Christopher’s growth, the plot doesn’t focus on the relationship and certainly not the physical elements of the characters getting together. Rather The Truth About Sunshine is about trying to reclaim one’s life after some of that control has been stripped by illnesses, injuries, or injustices. The writing is very solid, particularly in the way Christopher’s outlook and inner dialogue progressively changes. It is easy to track the growth of his character and see how the secondary characters play intricate roles in his development. The pacing isn’t slow necessarily, but it has a quiet and meandering quality reflective of the characters’ journeys of self-discovery. There are flashbacks in the timeline to explain feelings or give background to Christopher’s mentality. Not only does this give the reader insight into why Christopher is so bitter and closed off, but it also establishes the group dynamic quickly and efficiently so the focus remains on their cross-country adventure. I really like each character for different reasons. They each have a distinct story and personality that comes through, providing an outlook I may not have previously considered. Christopher’s emotions are certainly uncomfortable sometimes, but I love how candid they are. So often things get painted with a rose-colored brush, but that never happens with him. While the book doesn’t delve too much into PTSD, it acknowledges some of the unsavory aspects that come along with a combat injury. It’s done in a respectful but brutally honest way, and I can’t help but appreciate the authenticity of those moments. Though this story predominantly features Christopher’s growth and feelings, the secondary characters experiences aren’t lost or underdeveloped. Miss Bennett showcases the vulnerabilities of every character, and it adds a very raw and sincere quality to their stories. There is no quick fix, and the characters frequently remind each other- and by extension the reader- that their pain is inescapable. However, I think this book has such a poignant message of hope and support. It really drives home how much people can gain from one another, and how important it is to be there to listen and help someone in need of a friend. If you like books that make you feel, consider uncomfortable things, and take you on a journey, this is a great read. *Reviewed for Alpha Book Club*

    Must Read!!!

OMG!! This book is so good! I've read several other books from Sawyer Bennett and I always enjoy them, but this one was so different from what she usually writes. This story is about four people who have been through a lot and continue to go through a lot. They meet in a support group. Matthew is an angry amputee that is pissed off at the world. Jillian, who is losing her eye sight and has a heart condition, but she's very optimistic. Connor, a seventeen year old who is dying. And Barb, who is a goth chick that doesn't want to be alive. They all go on a road trip together because Connor has a bucket list and the group is going to help him complete it. They journey this group grows on is very emotional and moving. I loved this book. I will definitely be recommending it to everyone.
