    Riveting, as always

If you have not read Mary Lawson's work, you are missing out. She has a unique storytelling style , as well as writing with vivid detail and insight into the human experience. Everyone of her books has been a single-sitting read for me, and all three hold prominent places in my library.

    Road ends

A bit on the dark side, but a page turner all the way. A dysfunctual family will survive because an older sister is willing to give up her exciting job in London England to return to rural Ont a provide care for the family. The father is a "0" who manages to keep his ailing wife forever pregnant. He is the root of the problem and I end up with a strong dislike for such a worthless family man.

    Entertainment and enjoyment

Very interesting story. East to read and follow the characters. Especially interesting to me as I live in North Bay, know the towns of New Liskeard , Cobalt and Hailebury very well? The description of winter and the challenges of living in Northern Ontario is quite accurate. A very good, entertaining, and well written story. Thank you to Mary Lawson for this. An added comment from myself is that I have also read Crow Lake which I also enjoyed. !
