  • Ho Ho Homicide

I actually had the opportunity to listen to the audio version of this novel. The narrator was just perfect for this book and added to my enjoyment. Nick Spinelli is a homicide detective whose partner retires during the Christmas season. Because Nick doesn't have a partner and things are covered in his department he is transferred to the Social Service department. Of course, he is more than a little unhappy with this turn of events. The only redeeming feature is the social worker he is assigned to, Shannon, is very attractive. He gets off on the wrong foot with her right away because he thinks he can do a better job with children being removed from their horrible home lives. Shannon doesn't realize that he is a product of the foster programs. Still, she sees him as mean and harsh. Besides Social Services, the two of them end of working together in a different capacity. Shannon works part-time on the weekends as a Santa elf at the mall. After a Santa and an elf are killed, Nick decides to work undercover as Santa to find out who is murdering Santa and his helper. This story perfectly pairs romance, humor and suspense. The dialogue is clever and the storyline flows smoothly all the way. This audio book made my chores go quickly by keeping me entertained. Author Valerie Clarizio is talented and a lovely lady. I am so glad I got to meet and interact with her at a couple book conventions. COVERT EXPOSURE is the first in the Nick Spinelli series. Each one has a holiday theme. I look forward to more of these clever stories and other books in the author's backlist.

    Thanks for your feedback!
