  • A hoot

A group of guests at a hotel in the Scottish Highlands, dying one by one. Everyone becomes a detective and/or paranoid wondering who will get them and when. Liza and Hannah work on their relationship. This wasn't the most romantic setting, what with 6 deaths in 6 days. The narrator did well with the many characters and accents.

  • Funny, Engaging Whodunit w Women

I thoroughly enjoyed this modern take on Agatha Christie type mysteries. An assorted group of travelers are stranded in a snowstorm in a remote hotel as some begin dying under mysterious circumstances. Wealthy visitors, staff, even a femme fatale. Our protagonist is a very modern woman, here with her wife, and it is fun to see her courted by the femme fatale while she navigates class differences and a range of attitudes and ideas about the happenings. Lighthearted in tone, it also poignantly portrays a marriage in distress in a way I found very relatable. I also love Boyfriend Material and Pansies by the author, so it was great to find another wonderful read from Alexis Hall.

  • Laugh out loud!

snarky, satire, Scotland, relationship-issues, LGBT, marriage, verbal-humor, situational-humor, careers, f-f-cozy-mystery, farce, fun, multiple-murder, mystery, snooty-people, vacation, suspense***** "There's nothing wrong with a bit of murder now and then" It was supposed to be a surprise getaway to Scotland to repair the snags in their marriage, but it turned out a whole lot different! The main characters are zany, and the other guests are too funny for words. Definitely laughed my sox off! I don't think it'd play in Peoria, but any Brit or colonial would definitely ROFL (and some of us stateside as well).

  • Really????

Could a book about a same sex couple show any more shallow cliche and predjudice against every character and class in the book. I tried to believe it was tongue in cheek but does the author seriously believe people behave like this???? Are the upper class really so obviously toff are the military really so narrow, this is the 21st century times and people have changed. Do the research before writing. I get that you were trying to do cluedo but subtly of characterisation would have made this a much better book
