  • Greene Family prequel

This prequel to the new series by Piper Rayne is about Hank and Marla, the parents of the Greene Family. I'm glad that this book is released before the rest of the books so their story will be known on how their blended family happened. I read the book but the audiobook adds so much to the story. I think Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden are great narrators and they bring the characters to life for me.

  • Marla and Hank!

Marla has devoted her life to her husband and four children and is trying to move forward after his betrayal led to a divorce. She has returned to her hometown where she reunites with Hank, a friend from high school and her ex-husband’s estranged cousin. Hank is a widower and single father to five children who returned to Sunrise Bay after college and took over his father’s business. The chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever but with so many hearts on the line it brings a few challenges as well. The narrators did a great job at giving all of the characters their own personality and I am looking forward to reading more stories that feature this captivating family.

  • Quick and delightful!

I loved this story! It interestingly enough didn’t feel like a novella. It felt… full. Like it wasn’t lacking anything and I walked away feeling like I received a full story. I like the way Piper Rayne just jumps feet first into the main story and doesn’t give us a ton of back story. What we get is Marla, a woman who has moved home after a messy divorce with her four kiddos in tow to start anew. Hank is widowed and has been making his way with his five kids. These two are pretty smitten with each other and are ready to see where the future might go. However, two of those kiddos will not make this an easy happily ever after. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell narrated My Twist of Fortune and, of course, they are just as amazing as I’d expect from them by now. These are two narrators that audiophiles seek out since we have learned, from thousands of great listening hours, that it’ll be worth it! Arden was exactly what I envisioned for Hank. He’s strong and sweet… he has this soft side that is perfect for Marla and all those youngins. Mitchell did a fabulous job as Marla. I swear she had channeled exasperated mom’s everywhere when she spoke with her older son. It made me smile because I could feel that aggravation. Great job, both of them!

  • Lots of Laughter - Great Prequel

This book did a great job as a prequel to Piper Rayne's new series about the Greene family. I was already looking forward to this series, but after listening to it, now I am very impatient to get started with it. It is the story of Marla McAlister-Greene and Hank Greene. Yes, she had been married to Hank's cousin, but that is over. He is not the good man that Hank is. She is back in Alaska with her 4 children. Hank's wife died in a tragic accident, and he has been raising his five children by himself. Yes that makes 9 children. This looks like lots of great books coming up in this series to look forward to. This book brings lots of laughter. I would be at work thinking about what is happening with this story, and looking forward to getting into my car so I continue it. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell did a great job as narrators. This pairing of them and Piper Rayne earns 5 stars from me.

  • My Twist of Fortune

"I don't need to have a moose wish me good morning on my way to the van." ⁣ Return to Alaska with this prequel to the new Greene family series. ⁣ Marla returns home to Sunrise Bay, Alaska with her four children after finding out her husband cheating on her. When the water heater breaks in her parent's house call the town handyman to come help, who happens to be not only Marla's ex's cousin but her high school crush. Hank and Marla's feelings for each other seem to still be present after all these years. ⁣ I was excited that we are returning to Alaska and with another big family which means lots of fun and excitement to come. Hank and Marla's story was a great introduction to the family and how they came together. I was also excited that Dori is back and that Hank's mom, Ethel is her best friend. I am looking forward to this series. ⁣ Audio: Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell did a great job with bringing this story to life and are two of my top narrators.
