  • A Dark, Dark Fairytale

This is a very rich, original dark fairytale that reminds me of the unDisneyfied Grimm's fairytales my parents read to me when I was young. It also brings Pan's Labyrinth images to mind with how things are described.

  • really enjoyed this one!

The whimsy dream-like scenes combined with a teenage girl and her mother on the run around America is such a cool contrast. The author really knows how to tell a good fairy tale. Her ability to write the dreams and wild tales from inside the Hinterland was really great! The audiobook was also awesome. The narrator had a great voice to represent Alice and she also would do different voices for other characters, which I really like!
