    The Summoner

I'm struggling to get through this book. The characters are weakly defined, tensions and conflicts feel contrived with little to evoke an emotional attachment in the reader and the writing itself lacks creativity. At one point the term 'run him through' was used 3 times in succession to describe the same scenario. Definitely off my reading list.

    oh no not again

On the plus side the summoner magic is well implemented and ... er (struggling to find more pluses)... the plot is just about interesting enough that I bought the second book, without being sufficiently gripping to keep me up late in the evenings. But I certainly will not be buying any more books by this author. The books are tightly packed with the usual fantasy cliche's, the writing style is utterly devoid of creativity, and the characters are one dimensional (or possibly even zero dimensional if such a thing is possible). What baffles me is why so many people give this derivative pulp 4 or 5 stars when there are genuinely talented writers currently publishing books in the genre (e.g. Robin Hobb). I really just don't get why people like this so much.

Chronicles of The Necromancer the Summoner

Great plot. Amazing Story. It's almost as if the characters are jumping off the page you could almost feel as if you're right there on the quest with them. Everything gives such a vivid picture in the mind from the writing. This is one of my favorite series for Gail Z Martin is an amazing writer. Always brings characters to life and makes it and write so well that you feel as if you're right there. Some punctuation errors for example there are lots of parts in the book when they talk about cam and the name would be mixed with the next word with no space between. There is a full sentence in the book that has no spaces between any other words. Otherwise great book amazing read and I recommend it to everyone.
