    Awesome Book

Where to start? As an avid reader of the second world war this book approached the subject from an entirely different angle to most historical books on the subject. Written by neither a combatant nor a victim it provides a unique look into the period leading up to the war and the eventual climax that few others could have provided. To be true it is an exhaustive read but it travels at a pace that makes the reader feel like they were almost there. I couldnt put it down. If you ever read a book on Nazi Germany this should be the one, it is engaging, thought provoking and never lets ys forget the futility and senselessness that the second world war was. Hats off to the author, this book is exceptional.

Long read, but worth the effort.

Normally I am the type that no longer commits to tackling lengthy histories, but I'm pleased that I didn't permit myself to put this one down. Though long, and owing to the foot- and end-notes often time consuming, it really does read like a well-made documentary. A documentary of the same title was, in fact, based upon this book, and is avaliable to be taken in on YouTube. I highly recommend this, and the reading of this book. It reminds us of the horrors of the Nazi regime, and of the near destruction of the German people. It will excite a renewed gratitude for those who opposed and fought it.

    Breathtaking

Breathtaking narrative utterly necessary to understand the Nazi phenomenon. Just reading History we can learn from the past and try to build a better future
