Poor language made me feel worse!

I bought this book because I'm in recovery from substance abuse disorder. Im young, educated, and successful. I just had a rough patch and made some mistakes in life. I was looking for something to help boost my esteem as its an important part of sobriety. Instead, her use of stigmatizing, politically incorrect terms like "drunks" and "druggies" and how she claims that you shouldn't be around "those people" made me feel horrible. I already have guilt, (like most addicts do about their use/addiction) without someone writing that I'm basically scum and that nobody should be around me to be successful or happy. And then I was just infuriated. It's ignorant people like this author who make people think that those who have mental illnesses aren't worthy. I understand that being around positive people is important, but the inconsiderate way it was worded and how she alienated groups was wrong. Complete waste, glad it was only one dollar.

    Great read

Insightful a keeper. For the days I feel less of myself. It's true that u should keep yourself around positive people. My father has an addiction and his behavior is always negative. I love him but at a distance. I will that pray change happens for him. Great short read.
