    A Jamaican History Lesson

This was an excellent read. Challenging to decipher in parts (like trying to understand the Scottish of Trainspotting, here the Jamaican is throughout), but richly rewarding. This novel is a re-telling of events from many perspectives from a tumultuous period in Jamaican history, providing one a diverse perspective on the culture of Jamaica, it's politics, society, crime, troubles, music and position in world order. It is explicit, and riveting as a result, which in turns creates an incredible historical picture that belies understanding the Jamaica people's current existence. This is the Jamaica you can't appreciate at an all-inclusive resort, and gets to the heart of the struggles of the Jamaican people and that Marley sings about, and that underpins the direction Jamaica has gone. I thoroughly enjoyed the complex narrative and numerous perspectives of the story as told by so many colourful characters throughout this story. Not for the faint of heart, a very graphic, provocative, engaging novel.

    Nonsense

Terrible book. It is unreadable! The story just rambles on and is very hard to follow. Would not recommend to anyone. Wasted money.
