    Thanks for your feedback!

There is action, adventure, suspense, and more!

I’ve been waiting for this book ever since I read The Shadow & The Sun. If you’re looking for a Fantasy Romance, I highly recommend The Militess and the Mage series. There is action, adventure, suspense, magic, and some pretty good sexy times. Monica Enderle Peirce writes beautifully and I could clearly imagine the world she creates scene-by-scene, seeing and smelling the grotesque, rotting monsters as though they were right in front of me. *Shudder* One of the two main characters is Halina, a princess and militess, a woman who is independent and strong. But she is also vulnerable. This is what I love about Monica’s book. She creates strong women characters who are flawed and still possess a vulnerable side. And Halina learns through this series and most especially this book, it is okay to need help. You can’t shoulder everything all the time. Halina is stubborn, but knows when to admit when she is wrong. And boy I love her foul mouth and the words she comes up with when she’s angry! “That fat-faced, rump-splitter…” and “You have the morals of a pig’s intestines.” And then we have Gethen, necromancer and mage. I love this man. Love, love, LOVE him. He is as dangerous as he is seductive. ‘His lips curved into a smile that Halina surely would’ve labeled wolfish.’ Gethen knows and understands Halina. He never tries to make her feel less than what she is, but encourages that strength in her. She loves her for who she is. And in truth, he feels like he needs her. ‘Halina had become vital to Gethen, a presence he craved, a relief he sought.’ Through this book, they are searching for the one responsible for creating shrikers. These are undead dogs who have killed adults and sucked the souls from children. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. A Castle to Keep really is packed with nearly non-stop action. We also get to see and discover more about Magod, a servant and character from the first book. He’s a wonderful character. And it’s so sweet how he is so shy around Halina’s sister, Arevik. I loved this book from cover to end and can’t wait for the next! There is no cliff-hanger, but this tale is not yet done!
