  • Didn't finish it

Writing style is really weird. Really formal, but modern, as though author has no real understanding of the era she is writing about, so is writing in a way that she thinks they would talk. Really similar to the American interpretation of the British royal family, if you know what I mean? Lots of title dropping, modern sentiments assigned to the characters, but the characters lack depth and relatability. The descriptive style is textbook, like the adjectives have been added after the fact and/or with the aid of a thesaurus. Who describes someone as having a patrician nose for example? Writing style distracted from a storyline that seems pretty predictable, so didn't see much point in gritting my teeth trying to finish it.

    Thanks for your feedback!
