    Outstanding gently paced, unput-downable novel

I really loved this book. It is incredibly poignant, truthful and beautifully descriptive. It reads like the flight of an owl; with a haunting, ineffable ease. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the various viewpoints, and every character rings true, with sufficient information to give a feeling that one knows their truths. Beautifully paced, shocking, amusing and sad in equal measure; I've immediately gone looking for more books from this author

    A funeral for an owl

What a different reaf. While working througj the book, I was wondering where this was going. But I really enjoyed the ride, so I let go and let it happen. The ending, while climatic, bothered me as I wanted to know what happened next. An enjoyable read for those who existed before the internet and many others.

    Well written and compelling

When a school fight goes wrong and history teacher Jim is hospitalized, his colleague Aiysha's life is turned upside down as she discovers he has been unofficially taking care of Shamaylan, one of their 14 years old pupils, who comes from a difficult home. In the meanwhile Jim faces his old ghosts and a difficult recovery. The story is touchingly well written, the style was sometimes a bit difficult to follow for me, the main characters well-rounded and with believable motivations.

I enjoyed reading this book. I had a hard time putting it down. I wanted to know what happened to Aimee.
