  • Charming Memoir

I grew up loving Beverly Cleary's endearing books and charactors. I remained a fan and was thrilled to find a memoir by her. I found it to be well written and charming, a pleasure to read. It follows a life that was quintesencially modern American. A life wholesome and sweet, but also fraught with the real problems such as the depression, and middle class poverty that defined America of the period. They also seem to have defined the author whose books paint such a realistic and fond picture of middle class childhood. Her memoir is more real, mature but shares the same cheerful, wholesome tone. That makes it very appealing. I would recommend this book to any fan of Mrs. Cleary.

    Thanks for your feedback!
