Wonderful compelling read grabs your heart

What a wonderful and clever plot that grabs your attention holding you and twisting your heart all at the same time. It was a story I could not put down and was up late in the night finishing it. Shannon has not had an easy life from early childhood. She doesn’t hold anything dear or let anyone get close because in her eyes she won’t have them for long. Everything comes but it must leave at some point better not hold it dear. This is a character you can really relate to she is down to earth just a normal person trying to get by. When it comes to her nephew she has a hard time dealing since she has never had anyone to teach her what a relation or family really means. Add to that he watched his mother be murdered and hasn’t talked since, she doesn’t know him and has only seen him a few times, that is enough to make anyone throw their hands up. Even in the best of times Shannon would have had trouble dealing, reaching out and helping. With all that he has gone through she really doesn’t have a clue how to even begin but she is determine to give it her all and give her nephew a better life. Greg and his family reach out to bring this family closer together giving them meaning and teaching them through his art how to start over and become a family. What a wonderful story about pain, suffering and having the patients to learn to love and give of one’s self. These characters are strong they just needed to be shown how to pull within their selves to find the strength they already had. Humor is something I strongly believe in, no matter what it can get you through those trying times and make the happier ones happier. Ms. Gable does this with her stories making the tough times not seem so bad. She had me laughing out loud in no time at all. At other times I really needed a tissue. This is a very well rounded, well blend story that reaches into your heart grabbing it and giving it a squeeze. I found this book to be well written, realistic and very believable which really adds to the enjoyment of the read. This is the first of her books I have read and can’t wait to get my hands on more of her work. If you are looking for a story with a little bit of everything that is an outstanding read I hope you pick this up and give it a try.

    great romance

A Hero To Keep is a wonderful romance story between a young woman who holds on to nothing, and a young man, Greg Hawkins, who believes in family and love. Shannon Vanderfhoff learned early in life not to hold on to things, because they will always be taken from you. She has spent her life letting things go until her sister is murdered and she inherits her nephew, Ryan, to raise. Greg, a therapist who utilizes art therapy, is recommended to help Ryan. Ryan saw his mother killed and has not talked since. Gables characters are fully developed and believable. I found Greg to be a knight in shining armor and Shannon a young woman who has deep insecurities and hurts. Ryan's characters is a sweet heart; typical little boy full of energy once he comes out of his shell. His antics at his grandparents home were hilarious. The secondary characters in this novel add depth to the story and chances for future books. I loved the Hawkins family as they fully love and have each others back. I found this novel entertaining and the correct length for a lazy afternoon read. Although a free book I would have been willing to purchase this book for myself or a friend. It does contain an intense love scene, therefore I recommend this book for young adults and adults.
