Postively Saturated With Sexy Highland Heat!

At a time of the year where Christmas stories hit you from every angle it is hard to stand out let alone stand above the crowd and A Highlander's Christmas Kiss by Paula Quinn does just that. Book Five in her Highland Heirs series shares the story of Cailean Grant as he struggles to keep from becoming totally cut off from his humanity as a result of past personal tragedies. When his decision making becomes clouded by the sudden emergence of the very emotions he has kept locked way, the disaster that results reawakens his ability to feel. Beautiful and targeted by the person responsible for Cailean's rash actions Temperance Menzie's life is torn apart when her father's death is the outcome of their ulterior motives. Despite actions that might prove otherwise the innate goodness of the hero and heroine in this work were cleverly plotted by Ms. Quinn making their love not only obtainable but also believable and acceptable. This couple's surrender to love was not an easy one as they grappled with ethical and personal dilemmas. Positively saturated with sexy highland heat Cailean and Temperance added another remarkable branch to the family tree of this author's commanding Highlanders. Paula Quinn's special and unique style of writing paired with her perceptivity is a potent combination that demonstrates why she is an author whose books take residence on favorite's bookshelves everywhere. *I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* *While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*

    Fierce Highlander & Fiery Lady

I started this story before realizing it was part of a series so I don’t know the histories and such. I followed the storyline easily, but probably those who have read the other books will be more invested in the characters and plot. Cailean is sexy, strong and fierce, everything a girl wants in her Highlander. He’s a bit heartsick in the beginning and makes some bad decisions which come back to haunt him. More than one man desires to make Temperance his wife, but none can win her heart before Cailean. Her name isn’t fitting at all. She’s outgoing and headstrong, and she’s sometimes quick to react before thinking through. Although Cailean and Temperance are not always on the same side of a situation, the reader can feel the inevitable pull between them. A Highlander’s Christmas Kiss has love, death, romance and action. There are also plenty of side characters to that draw the reader’s attention. The villains are really easy to hate, and the heroes are likable.

    Wonderful period details!

Paula Quinn’s writing is superb, fluid and eloquent, yet understated and elegant. Ms. Quinn quietly weaves an abundance of historical details, which do not detract from the story but contribute to the authenticity of the atmosphere. A HIGHLANDER’S CHRISTMAS WISH is a majestic tale, rife with political clashes between clans in the Scotland of 1711, where love cannot be denied from happening. Ms. Quinn’s sense of pacing is faultless, and plot twists abound, and a few caught me completely unawares. The characters whether lovely, loathsome, or anywhere in between behave as people do, while sometimes in ways that defy reason, it is how real people are. There are so many wonderful characters, each and every one of them very complex. And some are utterly irresistible, such as Patrick MacGregor, who will be the subject of the next book in this series, and I cannot wait to see what this charming rogue will be up to. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
