  • A Truly Magical Series

Lily Ivory's wedding to Sailor is getting closer. The bride still hasn't found her wedding dress, but she's got a few weeks, so no worries. While her grandmother is making her way from Texas to San Francisco with her coven and Lily's Mother, the ladies seem to be on a long circuitous route on their way to get there. It turns out the delay in the arrival of the Texas delegation works in Lily's favor as Sailor is arrested for the murder of a man from Lily's past who threatened her upon his arrival, demanding she return what she stole from him. The only problem is, Lily doesn't know what she supposedly stole and she can't even remember the time she met the man and spent time with him and her father. Lily knows that Sailor would never kill someone, not without just cause to protect someone he cared about, but witnesses and the hotel video clearly point out Sailor as the murderer. Even Inspector Carlos Romero believes there is something "Hinky" going on and asks Lily to look into things the way that only she can do with her magical background. But time is ticking and there will be no wedding with Sailor in prison. Lily needs to work fast and smart, but her magic seems a bit off at the moment. Calling in support from Rom, Witch, and Voodoo friends, Lily focuses on clearing Sailor and planning their wedding, hoping for a happily ever after outcome. I adore this series and the setting. Juliet Blackwell is one of the first Cozy authors I read and I enjoy all of her books, both cozy and non cozy as well. The characters have become so vibrant that you think of them as friends and each new book is a visit to spend time with them. Take Conrad for example, who hasn't been rooting for him to turn his life around and when he takes the first step, you're rooting for him, right along with Lily. This is truly a magical series that delivers on all fronts.
