  • Glad I Gave this a chance

Of all the dead old white dudes on the money, Hamilton is the one I can tell you the least about. He doesn't seem to have captured people's imagination the way other Founding Father have. Waldron's book changes that, though; the rich and fascinating life of this poor-boy-turned-statesman is entertaining and vivid, never dry. You may be thinking, "Over 5,000 pages?!" but trust me, the pacing moves along well, and the many characters are memorably drawn so that you're not constantly going "Who's that?" As in many of her other books, Waldron "does" the 18th century very well, so that it always feels like a natural part of the story and setting (no heaving bodices here). Looking forward to reading more by this author.

  • Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Hamilton

Wonderfully written! It is a book that you hate to put down. I found the history of that time so very interesting , the author is very detailed with all aspects of the relationships between the characters. I want to read more from this author. I also enjoyed reading Hand me down bride.
