  • Great story!

This is the first installment of the Wiltshire Chronicles series. The story combines historical romance with murder and mystery and makes for a very intriguing read. It does end on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to get the next book! Samantha is a strong character, witty and full of spirit. Benjamin had promised his best friend and Samantha's brother, Edmund, that he would act as Samantha's guardian. He remembers a mischievous tomboy of all those years ago and is not prepared to see her all grown up and be so attracted to her. Samantha also is quite taken with Benjamin, but both are fighting it - Benjamin because of the promise made to Edward and Samantha because she does not wish to marry at all. Add to this there is still the murder mystery with the murderer still running loose. Such suspense and drama, I had a hard time putting the book down. I'm looking forward to the continuation of the story in the next installment! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Mystery

This starts with Mr Hastings being murdered over something he has hidden. You do not find our until later what was hidden and who the murderer is. During the story you meet Samantha Hastings, I have to admit I really like her. She is eventually engaged to Lord Benjamin Westwood. They’re romance has a lot of humour throughout and they are perfect for each other. Throw in a few surprises, a mystery and some creepy characters and you have a good book that was easy to read and enjoy. • A Perfect Plan

Are you kidding, not giving a full story . This is disgusting, having people pay for an incomplete book. I won't be purchasing anything from this author again. Too bad you can't give negative stars, this would get a -5. Don't waste your time reading this.

  • Story incomplete...

Well-written, BUT buyer beware... this is just one part of the story. “The End” at the end of the epilogue should really say “to be continued”, because it is not an ending. It feels like you’re reading a book, when someone snatches the book away from you... you’re left hanging... thinking “WHAT?!?” The second book (An Imperfect Engagement, Wiltshire Chronicles #2) continues the story of Samantha & Benjamin... so unless you’re prepared to shell out $7+ for the next part... give it a miss. I wish I had.

  • cliffhanger

Another new author for me and she did a wonderful job of transporting me back in time to the 1800s with her writing skills. I do love a well written historical romance, and this is very well written. I found the plot to be interesting from the beginning of the book to the very end of it. The author has added a murder mystery in with the romance. The two main characters have known each other for years and the man (Benjamin) becomes Samantha’s legal guardian, they have really great chemistry between them even though they are quite different, and Samantha doesn’t really comply with how a lady in the 1800s should dress and speak. I wasn’t too happy to find that there is a cliffhanger, I do wish authors would make it very clear in the blurb for a book that it has a cliffhanger ending as it really isn’t the type of surprise most readers enjoy, I have to admit I personally hate it!
