  • A Great Story

This is the first historical romance I have even read, and since I love Maggie Dallen, I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters Claire and Nicholas, as well as all of the supporting characters. I am very excited to read the next book in this series.

  • A lighthearted Regency romance

Just when things are starting to go right for the Cleveland family, Claire observes he brother Jed being led astray once again by his nemesis. For the first time Claire realises that since her sister has married a wealthy earl, the onus no longer lies with her to save the family fortunes, and she therefore doesn’t have to pretend and longer. She wades in like a prize fighter to confront both Jed and Lord Nicholas only to find both of them disregarding her. Not to be deterred, Claire follows them to their destination, and what unfolds is every Regency miss’s fear. Before she knows it, Claire is engaged to Nicholas, but she doubts his motives and reasons for marriage. She is horrified to find that she is falling in love with the rake, not realising that he in fact has found the one woman who makes him want to become a better person. Nicholas also sees in Claire the hidden persona she has masked so cleverly for all the years, and he wants more of that woman. There was some adventure, plenty of humour and heartfelt romance and a true hero who brings out the best in the heroine - or is that the worst? I received a copy of this well written and clean romance as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

  • Ending Daring

Even in the most demure of women, there is a little wickedness. I love these books, but I think these heroines have more issues than is warranted. Claire's is do not marry someone who will cheat on her. Question here is, how do you know who will cheat and who will not? Love is a leap of faith, and Nicolas made that leap of faith, but Claire is still stuck at the starting gate. The writing is excellent as always, but the ending was a little more than a debutante would dare.

  • Sweet & Romantic!

A Rake’s Ruin is a cozy and romantic historical romance that I found to be a wonderfully written story. From the start I was hooked and was half finished before I knew it. I think my favorite character is Nicholas. He’s not your ordinary knight in shining armor, but he cares and is loyal to a fault. I found his relationship with Claire to be one that was 'syrupy' sweet and romantic. I was always on his side. Claire had it rough, but she also had some baggage and fears to overcome. I did get a little teary eyed at the end and that makes for a five star book in my opinion. Can’t recommend enough! A Rake’s Ruin is the first in the Devilish Lords series. Final Rating: 5 Stars

  • Quite wonderful

Really caught me this story and the emotionally charged story of Nicholas and Claire is wonderfully written..The writing is quite honest and intense at times as they both struggle to deal with what they think they want and what they really want... take your time, the last chapters are seriously wonderful

    Thanks for your feedback!
