    A good read

A Scot in the Dark by Sarah MacLean Scandal & Scoundrel #2 4 Stars - This was a good read. Lily was a strong woman who started to regret her actions but in the end embraced them. I liked that. I was looking forward to Alec’s story after reading the first book in this series, however, he turned out a little different than I expected. While I truly enjoyed how much chemistry was between Lily and him.. His hard-headedness for thinking he wasn’t good enough for her - got tiresome. There were some great funny parts, some totally sigh worthy parts and of course a wonderful happy ending. I wonder who the next story in this series will be about? ~Paragraphs and Petticoats~

A Scot in the Dark by Sarah MacLean

A SCOT IN THE DARK was an excellent read! I love historical romances and I readily admit Sarah MacLean is one of my must-read authors. She consistently delivers everything that does it for me... romance, humor, sexy leading men with titles and a hero complex, strong intelligent female leads, undeniable passion, well-developed characters, and in this case, a seemingly unreasonable situation. Scandals and Scoundrels? Bring it on! I can't wait to backtrack and read the first book in this series, The Rogue Not Taken. Lillian Hargrove was incredible, vulnerable, intelligent, tough as nails, witty, beautiful beyond compare, and after being completely fooled by a man she believed loved her, determined to be in charge of her own future. Truly a magnificent heroine. She was certainly not going to rely a Scotsman who hadn't bothered to even acknowledge her until now. Alec, the reluctant Duke of Warnick, stays as far away from everything to do with England as he possibly can even after he suddenly, and rather amazingly, inherits his title, numerous properties, and an unbelievable fortune. He's completely content with his life in Scotland until he discovers he also inherited a ward and the young women needs his help with the trouble she's in... a scandal that will ruin her for sure if something isn't done. These two did not get off to a good start and were at odds for most of the story. Alec determined to meet his responsibilities by "handling" her and finding a titled gent to marry her. In the mean time, Lily vows she'll only marry for love and makes her own plans. For a young woman who's been neglected most of her life and hasn't been "out" she leads him on a merry chase. Lily's story is sad, but she's a surefire which made for some amazing scenes. Alec is a large man and cruel words from an ex-lover make him ashamed of his size, but for someone who considers himself a brute he could really be kind. And gentle. And extremely sexy! In this wonderfully written enemies to friends story they save each other. A perfect HEA! 4.5 stars
