    Thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Written from the perspective of a 14 year old boy, this mystery/suspense/ghost novel is finely crafted. Stein gets the attitude and angst of the central character just right, as a teenager who is trying to understand his parents' separation and the intergenerational family dynamics once the boy and his father move back to his grandfather's ramshackle mansion on the outskirts of Seattle. Deftly told, the narrative unfolds regarding the history of this robber baron family, and how the consequences of their actions have affected each generation. It's a great summer read and I highly recommend it.
